Trick or Treat Hours

Halloween takes place on a Tuesday this year and Trick-or-Treaters can happily roam their neighborhood between the hours of 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. Police cars will be patrolling the neighborhoods to help ensure everyone’s safety. If you see or find anything suspicious, please call 911. Remember to stay in groups and on the sidewalk, bring treats home to inspect before eating, and don’t accept rides from people you don’t know. Most importantly: have a happy Halloween!

New Park and Rain Garden Steward Programs

New opportunities for volunteers are available through the Fishers Parks Steward and Rain Garden Steward programs. The programs allow the community to get involved in caring for Fishers parks and greenways to ensure the sustainability of our natural resources.

Parks Stewards will ensure our parks are clean, welcoming, and thriving ecosystems for our community to enjoy through trash cleanup, trail maintenance, invasive species removal, and reporting vandalism or park damage.

Rain Garden Stewards will help maintain adopted rain garden areas for a minimum of one time per month for one year. Learn more about both programs and apply at fishers.in.us/Sustainability.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month

October 1 marks the start of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a pivotal time that sheds light on the importance of inclusive employment practices. Let us remind one another that talent knows no boundaries and to focus on promoting environments where individuals are judged by their abilities rather than their disabilities.

The Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability works year-round to provide individuals with disabilities in our community with meaningful and rewarding employment opportunities that benefit not only the employee but the employer as well. Check out our blog post here for local resources for disability employment.
