This winter, meet some of the local small business owners who are participating in Shop Fishers on the This is Fishers blog. We sat down with David Decker owner of ACo, who shared the story behind his business and why he loves owning a small business in Fishers.
Tell us about your business.
ACo has been in business for 18 years and we perform flooring, cabinetry, and kitchen and bath remodeling. Our mission is to help homeowners love where they live. A kitchen or bathroom remodel is more than a project; it’s an opportunity to transform your home and implement the details, large and small, that will make you fall in love with it all over again. What inspired you to start a business?
I grew up in a family-run business and aspired to be an entrepreneur from childhood. ACo was my first legitimate business and was founded on a passion for design and providing top-notch client experiences.
What made you want to open in Fishers?
We love Fishers! As a smart, vibrant, and entrepreneurial city, Fishers is not only the home to many of our friends, families, and past clients, but also the perfect community to grow our business.
What is your favorite thing about running a small business?
Providing opportunities for our team members to grow personally and professionally while providing for themselves and their families.
Why is it important to shop small this holiday season?
Buying local supports those businesses and employees that have a direct impact on our community. Businesses provide opportunities for employees to provide for their families and grow both personally and professionally. These businesses and employees impact economic growth within the community which helps provide and support an infrastructure for a vibrant community.
