April is National Volunteer Month and the city’s Keep Fishers Beautiful initiative, so This is Fishers asked some of our volunteers why they choose to donate their time and talent to the Fishers community.

JOHN BIERMAN

“The Fishers community offers so much to its residents; this is one way I can give back to the city and its residents. I love meeting and talking with people! As I meet more people during the Fishers Farmers’ Market (my primary volunteer initiative), I have learned more about the community.

In turn, I can share that with others who may be relatively new residents. The market vendors work very hard each Saturday setting up and helping them each Saturday hopefully makes their day go better. I may be old(er), but volunteering keeps me younger!”

“I get to learn new things from a great community that I live. I am so honored to have the opportunity to be part of volunteer group.

“I love to volunteer because I want to make Fishers’ parks and the community a better place. I also like to be involved in worthwhile projects and meet new people with similar interests. I have been very fortunate to live in such a beautiful community and I feel joy in being able to make a contribution.”
