In the last year, Fishers Parks has been challenged to be more creative than ever. In the first few months of 2020, we worked quickly to brainstorm how we could still offer something fun for families while they were hunkering down in their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the summer progressed, we were able to come up with ways to get outside in a safe way, offering passive pop-up events frequently. And as things turned colder, we saw just how much residents enjoyed our craft boxes, giveaways, and holiday fun.

The past year has given us ample opportunity to really collaborate with those who work with us or use our services for free, community fun. With a new logo and branding coming online in 2020 that is bright, vibrant, and fun, we’re again looking for that community input that we value so much to help us choose a face for our department that represents us wholly.

We’re looking for a mascot! Last week, we launched the Mascot Design Challenge and mascot-finding campaign to engage anyone who has a great idea. Like our programs, events, and parks, we’re welcoming everyone – all ages, artistic skill levels, etc.

Fishers Parks means something different to every user. Maybe you walk your dog daily on our trails for some ecotherapy. Maybe you participate by attending every free concert at the AMP. Or maybe you or your kids just let loose at our playgrounds. Whatever it is, we’re really trying to reflect your version of our identity through this mascot, who will make appearances at events, be used in marketing and on social media, and more!

These are your parks and recreational spaces. Help us make a mascot for you.

How It Works

Through the end of the week, we’re taking submissions for names and ideas. Really, that’s all we need. A spark of an idea can go a long way, and we’ll be putting all submissions through a final design phase. So, whether it’s a quick sketch on a piece of paper, or no sketch at all, we want to hear it. Submit your name and mascot idea now at playfishers.com/mascot or by commenting on our mascot social media posts.

Once the submission period has ended (11:59 p.m. Friday, February 12), we’ll pick our top 4 favorites, and then open it up to public voting for a fun, bracket-style elimination on our Facebook page.

The creator behind the winning mascot will earn bragging rights and a special meet and greet with our new mascot at a later date.

Stay up to date on the mascot decision process by following us on Facebook and Instagram.
