Every Saturday morning, food lovers, farmers, neighbors, and families come together in the Nickel Plate District for local food, live entertainment, children’s activities, and more. The Fishers Farmers’ Market, open Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon through September 26, is the premier destination for fresh, locally grown and sourced Indiana produce, meats, baked goods, prepared foods, and more.

BUT FIRST, COFFEE

To start off our shopping experience, we had to take care of the essentials and Harvest Café Coffee & Tea had us covered. We opted for the Peruvian single origin roast: a smooth, medium- bodied coffee with minimal bitterness and the perfect amount of fruity sweetness. Each small batch of coffee is roasted at their Indianapolis roastery for premium taste and aroma. Not a coffee fan? The booth offers a wide selection of tea, spiced cider, and hot cocoa.

BUYER’S TIP: Harvest Café Coffee & Tea offers a free cup of Joe with any bulk coffee bean purchase. Also, make sure to bring cash, no credit cards are accepted at this booth.

NOW, LET’S EAT
After perusing the booths of local produce, honey, and flowers, we were drawn to the smells wafting out of the Old Major Market booth. We couldn’t resist the special of the day, white cheddar chorizo biscuits and gravy (with a homemade buttermilk biscuit), which proved to be the perfect comfort food with a kick.

Along with a ready to eat special each week, this booth specializes in local, Indiana meats and cheeses (think bratwursts, bacon, and sausages).

BUYER’S TIP: Stop by this booth early for samples- the bacon and brats are amazing!

The Fishers Farmers Market is open every Saturday during the summer months from May through September from 8 a.m. to noon at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater.
