Have you ever been moved to create your own original artwork? Megan Hutchins was, and she’s clearly nailing it.
“I began creating nail art in the fall of 2013, when I was pregnant with our fifth child. I had an empty wall in my living room and I wanted to create a metallic piece of art, so I went to the local hardware store to see if I could find anything that would work,” she says.
She discovered galvanized roofing nails and began to create her first piece: a largescale world map. When friends and family saw the finished map, they were blown away. Hutchins was hooked.
The Noblesville artist creates each piece of art by hand, using her grandfather’s old hammer to place each individual nail, and she likes pieces that stand out in a crowd.
“I have always enjoyed simple abstract black-and-white art, and I love that this medium takes that look to a different level,” Hutchins says. Hutchins works on commercial and individual projects. Her shiny
nails give corporate logos a stunning, 3-D effect, and photo transfers make for unforgettable wedding gifts.
