Celebrate Black History Month Around Fishers

In honor of Black History Month, the City of Fishers has gathered together ways you can explore and celebrate black heritage with your community.

From community celebrations like Fishers Arts Council’s Second Friday: Embracing Black Culture exhibit and Hamilton Southeastern Schools’ Black Heritage Celebration, to free workshops and the National African-American Read-In at the Hamilton East Public Library, see how you can celebrate on the This is Fishers blog.

The Race You Love is Back!

Be a part of this year’s extra special Geist Half Marathon and 5K on Saturday, September 16. Thie race will feature the 13.1-mile race in addition to a 5-kilometer race, with optional VIP registration and volunteer opportunities.

Fishers Parks’ Heart Hike

The Heart Hike encourages heart-healthy hiking on Saturday, February 11 from 11 AM to 2 PM at Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve. Families can take a self-guided hike as they seek to find heart-shaped nature photographs posted along the trails, and then relax around the campfire after completing the hike. No registration required for this free activity, and all are welcome! March Disability Awareness Month Returns Next Month!

The annual celebration of National Disability Awareness Month in Fishers returns next month to bring awareness of what life is like for those with physical and intellectual disabilities.

The month-long celebration, hosted by the Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability and presented by Old National Bank, will feature a series of special events and initiatives throughout the city. This year’s theme, Building Our Future Together, will include partners from around Hamilton County to champion disability inclusion in Fishers and beyond.
