MLK Day & Community-Wide Food Drive 

Fishers’ 2023 MLK Jr. Day celebration will offer residents several ways to give back to the community and celebrate the message of kindness from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., with a community-wide food drive and volunteer opportunities throughout the city.  

With our local food pantries experiencing an increase in demand, and a decrease in supply, the City of Fishers is holding a community-wide food drive on Monday, January 16. Food donations will be collected with a Pack the Bus event at Fishers local parks and all three Fishers Kroger stores from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

Donations will be collected at the following parks and Kroger stores: 

  • Brook School Park: 11780 Brook School Road 
  • Cyntheanne Park: 12383 Cyntheanne Road 
  • Flat Fork Creek Park: 16141 E. 101st Street 
  • Harrison Thompson Park: 13573 Conner Knoll Parkway

Christmas Tree Recycling

Fishers offers a free Tree Recycling program, where residents can drop off bare, live trees through February 1 at one of several park locations throughout the city. Learn more here.

Geist Half Marathon Early Bird Registration 

The City of Fishers in partnership with Geist Half Marathon  announced the return of the popular 5K and Half Marathon races for 2023 on Saturday, September 16. The 2023 Geist Half Marathon will feature the 13.1-mile race in addition to a 5-kilometer race, with optional VIP registration and volunteer opportunities.  

Special, limited-time registration offers of $49.99 for the half marathon and $29.99 for the 5K are available through January 5. Register at geisthalf.com and be sure to follow Geist Half Marathon on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

March Disability Awareness Month Award Submissions 

Nominations are now open for The Fishers Advisory Committee on Disability’s 2023 Inclusion and Accessibility Awards, including the Life Without Limits Award, Cornerstone Employer Award & Accessibility Award! Nominations are due Friday, January 13. Submit a nomination.

Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant 

The Neighborhood Vibrancy Grant is a matching grant for neighborhoods looking to make improvements in their common areas. Applications for this grant program are due January 31 and residents can learn more and apply online here.

Fishers Parks Summer Camp Registration Now Open 

Fishers Parks offers camps for children ages 4 to 10 to explore their interests, make friends, and shake their summer-break boredom. In addition, stay tuned for more options for your tweens to teens! Whether your kid is an adventurer, nature-lover, artist, all-star athlete, or scientist-in-training, Fishers Parks offers something for everyone to keep kids active and learning.

Pre-K Prom & Spring Formal 

Dance the night away with your little one this winter at the Pre-K Prom on Saturday, February 4 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. (best suited for kids ages 3-6 years old) and the Spring Formal on Saturday, March 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (best suited for kids 7-12 years old).

Tickets include a night of dancing, a themed photo booth, light refreshments, and additional activities. Registration is $25 per person regardless of age. Parent or guardian must attend the event with child, no drop-off allowed.

Complete a self-guided tour through Fishers’ history, culture, and community favorites in honor of Fishers’ 150th birthday with the Fishers Sesquicentennial Trail! Spend time during winter break completing your passport with the family. Learn how you can get started here.

Community Time Capsule 

In honor of Fishers’ sesquicentennial, Fishers is partnering with Towne Post to curate a community time capsule that will be opened in 50 years in 2073. The community is invited to submit ideas for items that should be included in the capsule on the Towne Post website.
