Mother’s Day is the perfect time to honor the truly amazing women in our lives. From managing their own careers to raising children, our mothers are real-life superheroes!

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we are highlighting just a few of Fishers’ marvelous moms to learn more about how much motherhood means to them.

Rocio Kirby

Rocio Kirby, Fishers Customer Service Team

Number of kids: 1 son

How do you spend your day?: Typically, I start my day by dropping Xavier off at daycare so I can come to work at City Hall. Then, at the end of the day I pick him up and head home to work on his bedtime routine. Thankfully, his daycare is close to work, so the commute is very short. On a weekend day, if its nice out, we like to hit up one of the parks around us or go out for a little shopping and lunch.

Favorite local restaurant or business: My favorite restaurants and businesses around Fishers include Kincaid’s Meat Market, Lounge 1933, Tiger Lily, and India Sizzling (just to name a few).  I cannot forget to mention Roman and Leo, a boy’s accessory and clothing boutique which is so unique!

Favorite way to spend a Saturday: My favorite way to spend a Saturday is to spend it with my family, getting out and about like going to a park or visiting with family or friends. One of my favorite weekend activities is cooking and typically on Saturdays my husband and I like to make our more labor-intensive recipes; we gravitate towards preparing Mexican, Indian, or Italian cuisine most frequently.

Summer concerts at the AMP or Saturday morning at the Farmers Market?: The Fishers Farmers Market!

Fishers trails or Fishers parks?: These days we must pick parks over trails because our little one is in a stroller and doesn’t walk yet. Before we had a baby, we loved getting out on the trails at Richey Woods Nature Preserve.

Favorite part of living in Fishers: My favorite thing about Fishers is that there is always something to do. It is a fun city, and it is also family-friendly, which is perfect for us.

Favorite part of being a mom: The best part of being a mom is watching my boy grow and learn One of my most favorite things is watching his face light up when he sees me – he is genuinely so excited to see me first thing in the morning, when I pick him up from daycare, or even when he is going through something tough and I show up to fix it all with a cuddle.

Favorite local restaurant or business: I love Pho VN when I need a warm bowl of pho on a cold day!

Favorite way to spend a Saturday: There’s nothing I’d rather be doing on Saturday mornings than grabbing breakfast and listening to live music with my family at the Fishers Farmers Market.

Summer concerts at the AMP or Saturday morning at the Farmers Market?: The Farmers Market hands down!

Fishers trails or Fishers parks?: Fishers parks, because my triplets will spend an entire afternoon at Brooks School Park if I let them.

Favorite part of living in Fishers: I love this city’s intent on growing and striving for diversity and inclusion. There’s truly something for everyone here in Fishers!

How do you spend your day?: I am Associate Director, Digital Channel Capabilities and Operations at Eli Lilly and Associates. My days are spent as a part of a great team that manages Lilly’s corporate social media channels.

Area of Fishers where you live:  I live in Central Fishers, which puts me in close proximity to some of my favorite Fishers amenities including the Nickel Plate, Fishers District, Hub & Spoke, and Ritchey Woods.

Favorite local restaurant or business: I love to get lost at Allisonville Nursery. It’s always been a favorite spot, and it continues to get better and better with the improvements that Sullivan’s has undertaken.

Favorite way to spend a Saturday: Gardening is therapy for me. It’s where I leave all of the stresses of the week. Typically, you’ll find me in my ever-expanding ”yarden” for 8+ hours a day on the weekend.

Summer concerts at the AMP or Saturday morning at the Farmers’ Market?: Summer concerts are a favorite, because I love the sense of community that they create.

Fishers trails or Fishers parks?: I’m going to cheat and pick a Fishers park with a trail – Ritchey Woods is my absolute favorite quick getaway.

Favorite part of living in Fishers: I am a city girl at heart, so moving to Fishers was originally a bit of an adjustment. As the town has grown to a suburban city, I appreciate the dedication to quality of life. There is a lot packaged in that term. But, I see it pulled through thoughtfully in so many ways as the city grows, and it makes me proud to live here.

Favorite part of being a mom: I love seeing my kids find themselves as individuals. I am super proud of them both and of who they are becoming.

Favorite part of living in Fishers: My favorite part of living in Fishers is all of the great family activities we have access to from the AgriPark to the Ignite Studio at the library.

Favorite part of being a Mom: I love seeing the twinkle in her eye when she learns something new and it ‘clicks’. Although it can be frustrating at times, I love hearing what sassy thoughts she’s going to come up with next.
