Support Active Current Projects

The following projects are funded by the Fishers Arts & Culture Commission. Proposals were open to artists and artist teams nationwide and submitted through a RFQ process. Artists were selected by the Fishers Arts & Culture Commission’s Nickel Plate District Cultural Designation Subcommittee, which includes representatives from local non-profit arts organizations, Nickel Plate District business owners, residents, Commission members, and City of Fishers staff.

Seasons Nouveau

Seasons Nouveau, an eight-part banner series, premiered in February 2021 on The Edge Parking Garage (8890 E 116th Street) in Fishers’ downtown Nickel Plate District. The colorful series highlights the diversity of the Fishers community while drawing inspiration from the four seasons. The banners were designed by Indianapolis-based artist Tasha Beckwith, a graduate of Herron School of Art and Design. Beckwith was inspired by the Art Nouveau movement, the work of Czech painter Alphonese Mucha, and Fishers Arts & Culture Master Plan when creating this one-of-a-kind series for our community. The work will be on display for approximately 12-18 months. Learn more on the blog.

The lively, 1,000-square-foot mural is the work of artist Becky Hochhalter from Terre Haute, Indiana.

Wes Montgomery

The traveling Wes Montgomery mural, which premiered in front of Fishers City Hall in October 2020 before traveling to multiple locations around Hamilton County, will find a permanent home in Fishers in Summer 2021. Wes Montgomery spotlights the jazz guitarist from Indiana who served as inspiration for Jimi Hendrix, and is the first artwork in Koda Witsken and Israel Solomon’s series, A Celebration of the Cultural Contributions of Black Hoosiers: A Traveling Mural Program
